An excellent book written in simple understandable language for students of healthcare profession to understand the psychological aspects. The important clinical notes along with the summary and research boxes and at the end of chapter a few revision question is very good.

  • Content wise the authors have:
    • Revised all chapters with a clearer focus on psychological approaches to addressing the emotional/psychological elements of various conditions.
    • Revised chapters on psychiatry and neuroscience, with an enhanced  focus on a need to consider transdiagnostic approaches to mental health/illness.
    • Increased the engagement with epigenetic processes.
    • Within each chapter the research boxes have been revised so that wherever possible they focus on psychological interventions to show how psychology can be useful in treatment rather than simply as a way to understand aetiology.
    • Expanded the coverage of social determinants of health and diversity.
