Matt Vidal Loughborough University London

Matt Vidal is Reader in Sociology and Political Economy in the Institute for International Management, Loughborough University London. He is author of over twenty articles or book chapters on work, employment, comparative political economy, and social theory. Matt is author of Organizing Prosperity (with David Kusnet; EPI) and editor of The Oxford Handbook of Karl Marx (with Paul Prew, Tomás Rotta and Tony Smith; Oxford) and Comparative Political Economy of Work (with Marco Hauptmeier; Palgrave). Matt has a research monograph on lean production forthcoming with Oxford University Press: Management Divided: Contradictions of labor management in American capitalism. He is the founder and former editor-in-chief of Work in Progress, and founding editor of the Marxist Sociology Blog, both of which are public sociology blogs of the American Sociological Association. He holds a doctorate in sociology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
