Dr. Genevieve Z. Steiner is a clinical psychophysiologist (a discipline sometimes referred to as cognitive neuroscience), and her research investigates the early detection, prevention, and treatment of cognitive decline in older age, mild cognitive impairment, and dementia. She uses advanced functional neuroimaging and physiological research methods in clinical trials to investigate integrative medicines, including dietary supplements (such as herbal medicines) and lifestyle interventions that may reduce the risk of cognitive decline in older adults. She is a multi-award-winning NHMRC-ARC dementia research development fellow at NICM, Western Sydney University, Australia; an honorary fellow in the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Wollongong, Australia; and a dementia advocate for Alzheimer’s Australia.
