Mental Health Issues/Disorders | Mental Health Nursing | Pediatric Nursing
Written by a multi-disciplinary team of passionate and experienced experts, the book strikes an effective balance between introducing the relevant theory and showing how this can be applied in the real world. It is an essential starting point to the subject of child and adolescent mental health and suitable for any students planning to support this group.
The book provides some useful information about communicating with children, safeguarding, mental health promotion and intervention. However, I was looking for a book with a greater emphasis on CAMHS.
Many more children and young people are being treated in general paediatric areas therefore there is a need to equip children's nurses in these areas with an understanding and the skills to care for these children and young people. This text will start this learning. Easy to read. Good application of theory to practice. Good use of case studies to illustrate theoretical concepts being presented.
A very useful text with a wide scope. Some really thought provoking activities and useful scenarios included.
Useful as there seems to be a fear of nursing children with mental health issues. A very informative useful text book.
Excellent introductory text for our new module on mental heath.
An interesting and insightful book suitable for all those working with or training to work with children and young people. The text is accessible and provides a clear overview of mental health issues faced by children and young people in our society. Case studies and thought provoking exercises bring the text to life and encourage practitioners to apply theory to practice in a way that challenges and promotes reflection. I will be recommending this book to my students.
This book covers a wide range of topics related to the mental health and well being of children and young people. It covers MH disorders, theories related to mental health disorders, understanding and promoting mental health, engaging with children and their families and individual and group interventions. Each chapter has an extensive list of references for further reading. An enjoyable and informative read for students new to the field and those of with more experience.
This book provides some good depth and relevance to the areas of psychosocial care, however, other core texts remain the main choice with this book being ideal as supplemental reading
Useful book for Undergraduate children's nurses
This book is a welcome addition the module. It is clear and easy to use, opening up a difficult subject.
